Arnold Lynch presented a fascinating paper at the 2001 IET history weekend meeting. This stimulated me to develop a TLM simulation which was presented at the 2005 meeting.  The results gave a new insight into the nature of balance in the Ballistic Bridge

DIY Signalling on the 1865:6 trans-Atlantic cables
An invitation to lecture in the US came with the condition that I model a signal on the 1865/6 trans-Atlantic telegraph cables.

Signalling on the 1857 trans-Atlantic cable
Allan Green has discovered early oscillograph traces made by the electrician of the Atlantic Telegraph Company.  Very few details of the background to his pioneering work are available.  This paper attempts some computer-assisted forensic analysis.
